Rig and animate four-legged animals online
MonRig rigs and animates dogs, wolves, cats, horses, deer, bears, elephants, apes, lizards, rabbits and centaurs in the browser. Upload the mesh as FBX, GLB or OBJ, give it a skeleton (a starter skeleton you drag into place, a few clicked landmarks for Guided Rig, or Auto Rig's proposal), and every clip is generated from that skeleton, then baked as FBX and GLB for Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot, Blender or three.js. Rigging and previewing is free.
Body types
Quadruped (four-legged walker)
Walks a four-beat gait (back left, front left, back right, front right), runs, and bounds into a gallop; the hocks fold and the paws flip back in every swing.
Starter skeletons: Most four-legged animals, Bear / rodent (flat back feet), Elephant / pachyderm, Cat / feline, Dog / wolf, Horse / hoofed runner, Giraffe, Sauropod (long-neck dino), Dragon (four-legged, winged), Triceratops, Stegosaur, Rhino, Weasel / ferret, Griffin, Unicorn / kirin, Chibi / plush (stub legs).
Knuckle-walker (ape)
Walks on its feet and knuckles: the arms are its front legs, the chest carried high.
Sprawler (lizard, elbows-out)
An elbows-out four-legged gait with a sideways S-bend of the spine in time with the steps.
Starter skeletons: Lizard (standard), Turtle, Crocodile.
Hopper (hops instead of walking)
Never walks: Walk, Run and Run2 are hop cycles, leaning into each hop and landing straight into the next.
Starter skeletons: Kangaroo / rabbit, Frog / toad.
Taur (centaur: four legs and free arms)
Four walking legs and a free upper body: the legs walk a four-beat gait while the arms stay free for attacks and gestures.
Animations
A new creature here starts with these 16 clips, generated for its body type:
Optional clips that suit this anatomy (each one checks the rig and says what it needs, such as a tail, wings or a head):
Clip names stay the same on every re-bake, so an Animator state that points at Walk keeps working. Each clip has dials that change how it looks, from the gait to the tail carriage.
Before you upload
Model it standing on all four feet with the legs under the body, the mouth closed and the tail relaxed: the skeleton is fitted to the pose the mesh is in. One creature per file, in a neutral pose; MonRig rebuilds the upload from its geometry, so an existing skeleton in the file is replaced.
