Rig and animate dragons and winged creatures online

MonRig rigs and animates western dragons, wyverns, eastern dragons, griffins, phoenixes, bats and flying serpents in the browser. Upload the mesh as FBX, GLB or OBJ, give it a skeleton (a starter skeleton you drag into place, a few clicked landmarks for Guided Rig, or Auto Rig's proposal), and every clip is generated from that skeleton, then baked as FBX and GLB for Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot, Blender or three.js. Rigging and previewing is free.

Body types

Flyer (winged)

Idle hovers, Walk is slow flight and Run is fast flight with a quicker wing beat; the legs tuck in.

Starter skeletons: Bird (standard), Wyvern, Bat, Butterfly / moth, Phoenix (fire bird).

Wyrm (airborne serpent)

An airborne serpent: it undulates through the air on a travelling wave and never lands.

Starter skeletons: Wyrm (airborne serpent), Eastern dragon.

Also here: the Dragon (four-legged, winged) and Griffin starter skeletons of the four-legged animals page, which walk on four legs.

Animations

A new creature here starts with these 16 clips, generated for its body type:

IdleWalkRunRun2JumpHurtDefeatedAttack_1Attack_2MagicAttackBeamAttackIdle2VictorySpawnSleepDodge

Optional clips that suit this anatomy (each one checks the rig and says what it needs, such as a tail, wings or a head):

Clip names stay the same on every re-bake, so an Animator state that points at Walk keeps working. Each clip has dials that change how it looks, from the gait to the tail carriage.

Before you upload

Pick by how it moves, not how it looks: a dragon that walks on four legs and folds its wings is a four-legged walker with wings (the wings keep the pose you give them while it walks); a dragon that lives in the air is a flyer; a wingless eastern dragon is a wyrm. One creature per file, in a neutral pose; MonRig rebuilds the upload from its geometry, so an existing skeleton in the file is replaced.

No creature of these body types has been published yet; the first one you publish appears here.
