WingAttack: a gust of wind, aimed where you want it

Winged creatures get a real gust attack: quick wing beats lift the creature, the wings cock back, then one hard forward sweep throws the wind ahead. The whole body throws itself into it, and five new dials set the aim, the power and more.

WingAttack used to swing the wings up over the back, where they crossed each other. It is rebuilt as a gust in three acts:

  • Anticipation. A few quick wing beats carry the creature a little higher and back.
  • The gust. The wings cock back, then sweep forward hard and throw the wind ahead. A wing never swings past the middle of the body.
  • Recovery. The creature sinks back to where it started.
  • The whole body joins in. The chest rears back in the wind-up and throws itself forward on the strike, the head trails and the tail whips after it. A flyer's legs trail the beats, draw up and kick back.
  • Five new dials. Gust direction turns the gust to the left or the right. Wing sweep strength, Body into it, Anticipation flaps and Anticipation uplift set how hard, how much body, how many beats and how high. A creature on legs takes off on the first beat and only turns while it is in the air, so its feet never twist on the ground.

Open any winged creature's WingAttack to see it.
