Lopsided model? Make it symmetric before you upload
Picking a model now opens one window that walks through four steps: shape, lighter, symmetric, upload. A head looking to its side or a tail curled away is straightened onto the middle on your computer, before anything is uploaded.
Models from AI generators often come posed: the head looks to one side, the tail curls away, a paw steps forward. MonRig builds one side of every pair and mirrors it, so a lopsided model rigs badly. Now you fix that where you upload:
- One window, four steps. Shape (what is it, what's its name), Lighter (from 50,000 vertices), Symmetric (below 97 / 100), Upload. A step your model doesn't need is ticked off and skipped.
- Tails and heads come onto the middle. A tail curled sideways is laid along the middle line, keeping its length and its up-and-down curve. A head looking to its side is turned to the front on the top of its neck, and the turn fades down the neck so the neck stays whole.
- The rest is mirrored from the better side. ⇄ Keep the other side mirrors from the other half instead — pick whichever side of your model looks better.
- You decide. Keep its pose leaves a tail or a head where it was; Move, Turn and Falloff adjust a head by hand; Keep it as it is skips the step.
- Nothing is uploaded until you choose. The copy is made in your browser and goes up with its texture.
