Human Walk and Run: no more robot

Humanoids no longer walk with their knees locked half bent. The body rises over each step and sinks into the landing, the foot rolls over its ball, and the Run pushes off from the toes and floats after every step.

A person's leg straightens as the body passes over it, and the heel lifts as the foot rolls onto its ball. MonRig's humanoids walked on knees held at the same bend through every step, with a small jump in the legs at the push-off. Now:

Walk

  • The body rides over the legs. The hips rise as the body passes over the foot and sink a little into each landing, so the knee straightens in the middle of the step instead of staying bent.
  • Heel up, ball down. The heel rises on a smooth plan and the foot rolls over its ball. There is no more jump at the push-off, also with big Stride and Body bob settings.
  • The back foot shows its sole. The foot follows the shin as it swings back.
  • Shoulders swing. The shoulders turn against the hips as a person's do.
  • A bigger bounce on request. Body bob above 1 adds a stylised bounce on top.

Run

  • Lowest on the foot, highest in the air. The body dips as the foot takes the weight and rises in flight.
  • Push off from the ball. The toes no longer dig into the floor, and the kicked-back foot shows its sole.
  • Airborne floats after every step. With Airborne turned up, the runner floats after each step instead of skipping, and the legs and arms slow down evenly to the longer rhythm.

Open any humanoid's Walk or Run to see it. Your own dial settings are kept.
