MonRig vs Anything World

Anything World (now also called Everything Universe) and MonRig both take a creature mesh and hand back a rigged, animated model, so they are the closest pair on this list. Anything World's AI sorts the model into a fixed category and gives it that category's clips; insects and spiders are still marked coming soon there. MonRig generates every clip from the creature's own skeleton, covers insects, spiders, dragons and slimes, and lets you move the skeleton and re-bake as often as you like.

When Anything World is the better choice

If your creature fits one of its categories and you want the least possible input, Anything World is very hands-off: it classifies the model, rigs it and attaches its clips. Its humanoid set is large, and its plugins bring it straight into several engines.

Questions

Is MonRig an alternative to Anything World?

Yes, for creatures in particular. Both rig and animate automatically; MonRig covers more body types (insects, spiders, dragons, lizards, slimes) and generates the animations from each creature's own skeleton, while Anything World gives each category a fixed clip set.

Can Anything World rig insects or spiders?

Its own FAQ lists insects and arachnids as coming soon. MonRig rigs ants, beetles, spiders, scorpions, mantises, centipedes, lobsters and crabs today, each with a walk that steps its legs in rows.

How do the prices compare?

Anything World's web app runs on monthly credits: the free plan gives 15 credits a month for students and personal use and allows one model download; paid plans run from $30 a month for 100 credits to $260 for 1,500. In MonRig, rigging and previewing are free and you pay per creature, once, when you first bake it; re-bakes and downloads of that creature are free after that.
