MonRig vs AccuRIG
AccuRIG, Reallusion's free auto-rigger, is made for two-legged characters: its manual asks for a biped in A or T pose, and its motions come from the ActorCore motion-capture library. A dog, a dragon, a spider or a snake has no place in it. MonRig rigs those creatures in the browser and generates their animations from their own skeletons.

When AccuRIG is the better choice
For a humanoid or a two-legged beast that should move like a person, AccuRIG is free, rigs the hands down to the fingers, and opens a library of thousands of motion-capture clips. Use it.
When MonRig is
- Your creature walks on four legs, six, eight or none: dogs, horses, dragons, spiders, snakes, fish.
- You want creature moves (bites, tail whips, wing attacks, stings) that a human motion library does not have.
- You want every creature on one clip set with stable names, so one Animator setup serves the whole roster.
Questions
Can AccuRIG rig a quadruped?
AccuRIG's pages describe biped rigging only (including two-legged fantasy creatures and birds); four-legged animals are not mentioned. MonRig has starter skeletons for dogs, cats, horses, elephants, giraffes, four-legged dragons and more.
Is MonRig free like AccuRIG?
Rigging and previewing in MonRig are free for up to three creatures; baking and downloading the files is paid per creature. AccuRIG's rigging is free and its motion clips are sold separately.
Can I use both in one game?
Yes. Both export FBX for Unity and Unreal. Many games take their humanoids from one tool and their creatures from another.
