Many-legged creatures: the leg count first, a knee on every leg
On insects, spiders, scorpions and crabs the guided rig asks how many legs per side before anything else. Every leg row needs its knee, with a clear rule for which bend that is. Precise mode adds an optional ankle.
- How many legs per side? now needs an answer before you place leg markers or fit. Before, a spider with three leg pairs could be left at the layout's default of four rows. Two rows then shared one real leg, and nothing warned you.
- The knee marker is now required on every leg row, in Quick and in Precise mode. Which bump is the knee? Start at the leg's root and follow it outwards. The knee is the first place it bends: often the top of the arch, where the leg stops rising and turns down. If the leg first dips from the body, it is the bottom of that dip. Spikes, spurs and rings on a segment are not bends.
- Precise mode offers an optional leg ankle marker on simple legs: the second bend, the corner where the leg turns down to its tip. On legs with an extra foot bone it is called leg hock.
